The Master is back! And the Doctor is trapped at the end of the universe without the TARDIS!

I've been watching some old Tom Baker Doctor Who as well lately. I can't believe how engaging it is for something that old. I really want to watch the Doctor Who movie now.

In other news I'm going to Toronto next week (for work). I'll be gone from Monday to Saturday afternoon.

New Car!

So I've purchased a new car (new of course being a relative term). It's a 1995 Ford Taurus and it's hunter green. Everything seems to work fairly well considering how old it is. Amazing, nothing is actually broken. Well, you can't open the truck with the key, but my Dad's fairly sure that's just because the keyhole full of dust and stuff. It was only $1150.

The only thing the car really needs is new tires. Frighteningly, this will double the value of the car.

Seems about right

I want THIS on a poster.

It took me just under two hours to drive home today.

I must find a solution. . . or another job.

Job Again

I realized I didn't actually say what my new job is. I'm going to be an Engineer-in-Training with a company called Honeywell. You may recognize the name from the thermostat on your wall. It's a huge international company, but the part I work for is fairly small. My division retrofits existing buildings to improve energy efficiency, and it also does security systems and such. We guarantee that the client will save, say, 10% on their heating bill, or we'll write them a cheque for the money they didn't save. My official job title is Measurement & Verification Specialist (sounds fancy doesn't it!). Essentially, I'm the guy who makes sure we don't write cheques! I'll do a lot of the financials and the customer service. This involves some travel because I have to meet with any new client and also meet with previous clients once a year for the ten years following the completion of the contract.

New Job etc.

So Tuesday I start my new job. I'm kind of looking forward to it. Mainly the getting paid part and the not working evenings and weekends part (I'm so glad I'm not going back to school). Because my office is in the north end, specifically 45th St. W., it looks like I'll have to get a car, which I'm none to thrilled about (the alternative is over two hours a day on the bus). My finances are rather drained from the trip so I might have to take out a line-of-credit. I figure I'll worry about getting a place to live once everything else has stabilized. Right now my house is a bit of a gong show.

It's weird to have everyone around me racing around with a combination of work, school prep., and my sisters' ever-present social life, while I'm just trying to kill time until I start work. I'm also trying to catch up on my pop culture. I read Harry Potter and I must say I was quite impressed with it. I think she did a really good job considering how ridiculously high the expectations were. There are only two things I don't understand:

HP SPOILER WARNING!

1. How did Neville end up with the sword of Gryffindor at the end? Didn't the Goblins have it?

2. I forget the other problem, it was late when I finished the book.

I've also watched two out of the eight movies I want to see already. I've seen Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End and Shrek the Third, and I still have to see Harry Potter, Transformers, Spider-man 3, The Fantastic Four, Ratatouille, the Bourne Ultimatum, Nancy Drew, and apparently Stardust. Hmm, that's actually more than eight so I must have added some to the list already. If any of these interest you give me a call, cause it's always more fun to go with someone than alone.

I'm also pumped about the return of Doctor Who. "Gridlock" comes on Monday evening. I've already recorded some old Doctor Who (starring Patrick somebody) because the satellite company is trying to convince us to get the BBC (i.e. a free preview).

Yep, done now.

Computer Problem

Right now there's a bat hanging upside down in my Dad's computer. It's tucked itself behind the motherboard and it won't come out. Unfortunately, we had to kill it to remove it. I won't show you the picture of that.
