Hi from Warsaw

Hello all,

I'm writing this from the less than beautiful city of Warsaw. This morning I saw Auswitz, which didn't effect me the way I expected it to. I didn't feel much of anything at all. Even when I saw the personal effects of the victims (piles of glasses, baby cloths, human hair, etc.) I felt a strong sense of unreality. The only thing that really resonanted was the sheer size of the place (Birkineu/Auswitz II).

I've been feeling rather homesick lately. Two nights ago I babysat a drunk 19 kid from New York (puking out of the cab drunk). I will never go on one of these tours again.

In the realm of better news is that I've accepted a job back home and will start when I get back (on Sept 4th to be precise).

I hope everyone is having a good summer.

Under-educated

Today we returned to Trier and saw an interesting exhibit on Constantine the Great. I keep wishing the Venomous Bee was here to explain all the art to me! There was a really beautiful tapestry be Peter Paul Rubens depicting the marriage of Constantine and one of his daughters. It was made for one of the kings Louis on the occasion of the double marriage of himself and one of his daughters.

Summer Status

Hello devoted readers (and you'd have to be devoted considering how infrequently I post to this blog). I'm in Anshau, Germany with my cousin Luke and we're staying with relatives. I'll be in Europe until August 28th.

So far we've seen Trier (Constatine's former capital and the oldest city in Germany), Strasbourg France (although we never intended to go to France), and much of the Rhine and Mosel river valleys. This week we'll see more of Trier, Köln, and Aachen.

Also, the company I interviewed with right before I left has said they will offer me a job if they like what my refernces have to say about me (cross your fingers).

If anyone wants a postcard please email me your mailing address and I'll make sure you get one. At the moment, my internet acces is slow and limited so I'm afraid I can't update very often or post pictures.

p.s. If anyone tells me what happened in the last Harry Potter book you will see me break down and cry and it won't be a pretty sight.
